Rosie Perez was one of the celebrities who support Floyd Mayweather Jr. She took to Twitter to celebrate the victory of the undefeated boxer over mixed martial artist Conor McGregor in a boxing superfight at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States on August 26, 2017.
“50-0 Baby!” Perez tweeted. She added that Mayweather was amazing and he “acted like a gentleman in the end” with all the trash talking of his Irish opponent.
The former “The View” host is also a boxing enthusiast. She served as the grand marshal for the international Boxing Hall of Fame parade in Canastota, New York, United States in June 2013.
Perez and Eric Haze, an artist, got married on September 15, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. A night before the wedding ceremony, they had decided to get married while attending the boxing match between Mayweather and Saúl Álvarez.
Many boxing fans expected McGregor to lose and not even last long in the bout against Mayweather. However, the Irish UFC fighter managed to last for 10 rounds before the referee stopped the fight and declared Mayweather the winner via technical knockout.
McGregor is a former Ultimate Fighting Championship featherweight champion and the reigning UFC lightweight champion. He currently holds a professional MMA record of 21 wins and 3 losses.
On November 30, 2016, McGregor obtained a professional boxing license from the California State Athletic Commission. His professional boxing debut was confirmed six months later.
As a professional boxer, McGregor now has 0 win and 1 loss. Mayweather, on the other hand, has 50 wins and 0 loss.
