Robbie Amell is busy filming “When We First Met” but he made sure he had time to watch the boxing superfight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Ultimate Fighting Championship fighter Conor McGregor. The match between the undefeated boxer and the mixed martial artist took place at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada, United States on August 26, 2017.
“What a great fight!” Amell tweeted. “#MayweatherVsMcGregor 50-0. Unreal.”
After defeating McGregor, Mayweather now has 50 wins and 0 loss. On the other hand, McGregor has 0 win and 1 loss as a professional boxer.
McGregor is a former UFC Featherweight Champion and the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion. He currently holds a professional MMA record of 21 wins and 3 losses.
On November 30, 2016, McGregor obtained a professional boxing license from the California State Athletic Commission. His professional boxing debut was confirmed six months later.
Boxing fans are polarized when it comes to McGregor’s loss to Mayweather via technical knockout via referee stoppage in Round 10. Others say the UFC fighter just cannot box while others applaud him for showing a great performance despite losing to one of the best boxers of all time.
In a post interview with Jim Gray of Showtime, McGregor explained why he thought referee Robert Byrd should have allowed the fight to continue. He pointed out that he had worse situations in the MMA cage.
“I’ve been here before,” McGregor told Gray. The UFC fighter added that he had been strangled on live TV and came back.
Meanwhile, aside from “When We First Met,” Amell is also set to star in the horror-comedy film “The Babysitter” with Bella Thorne, Judah Lewis, Samara Weaving, Emily Alyn Lind and Andrew Bachelor. In “When We First Met,” Amell will star opposite Alexandra Daddario and Adam DeVine.
In 2018, Thorne will star in “Midnight Sun” opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son Patrick Schwarzenegger. It is a romantic drama film directed by Scott Speer.
