German-Israeli tattoo artist and Instagram influencer Shani Nicole Louk of Tel Aviv, Israel has died. She was 22.
Louk worked as a freelance tattoo artist in Tel Aviv and dated Orión Hernández Radoux, 30, a citizen of Mexico. She was born to an Israeli father named Nissim Louk and a German mother named Ricarda Louk.
In the 1990s, Ricarda moved from Ravensburg, Germany to Israel. She has another daughter named Adi Louk.
In the 2000s, Nissim, Ricarda, Shani and Adi moved to Portland, Oregon, United States. Shani attended kindergarten at Portland Jewish Academy in Portland.
Since 2007, the Ḥarakat al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah (Hamas) has governed the Israeli-occupied Gaza Strip. The Palestinian nationalist Sunni Islamist political organization has a military wing called the Qassam Brigades.
On October 7, 2023, Shani and Radoux attended the Supernova Sukkot Gathering, an open-air psychedelic trance music festival celebrating the Jewish holiday of Sukkot near Re’im, Israel. The festivalgoers were dancing when Hamas gunmen disrupted the celebration and began shooting anyone they saw.
On October 30, 2023, Israel and Germany confirmed Shani’s death and announced that she was decapitated by the Hamas. Forensic examiners reportedly found the petrous part of the temporal bone from her skull with her deoxyribonucleic acid.
“I am really sorry to report that we have now received news that Shani Nicole Louk has been confirmed murdered and dead,” Israel’s 11th and incumbent president Isaac Herzog told Bild. “What we saw on the Gaza-Israel border goes far beyond a pogrom. We saw a slaughterhouse.”
Nissin and Ricarda believe that Shani was killed on the spot and did not suffer. He told N12 that Shani was shot while she was inside her vehicle preparing to flee on October 7, 2023.
On the other hand, whether or not Radoux is still alive is unknown. He is believed to have been taken hostage by the Hamas.
