Uruguay’s Diego Marset arrested in Foz de Iguacu, Parana, Brazil; Where’s Sebastian Marset?

Uruguay’s Sebastián Enrique Marset Cabrera, 32, and Diego Nicolás Marset Alba, 22, are half-brothers. Sebastian is the founder of Primer Cartel Uruguayo, a cartel smuggling cocaine from Paraguay through Uruguay to Europe.

Since May 2022, Sebastian has been wanted internationally by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol). Diego was also the subject of an Interpol red notice requested by Paraguay.

On November 26, 2023, Sebastian appeared in “Santo y Seña“, a show on the Uruguayan channel Canal 4, in a pre-recorded interview of journalist Patricia Martin with him. He is still on the run.

Diego Marset

Diego allegedly acted as an intermediary for Sebastian on frequent trips from Bolivia to Paraguay. They are both accused of using multiple false identities in Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay to avoid arrest.

While Diego was on the run, his pregnant wife, who is from Bolivia, lived in a luxury condominium in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná, Brazil. After Interpol shared intelligence that she was about to give birth, officers from the Polícia Federal do Brasil started monitoring the condominium.

On December 26, 2023, Diego arrived in the condominium and was arrested. His arrest was part of a police operation involving the Interpol national central bureaus in Brasilia, Brazil, in La Paz, Bolivia, in Asuncion, Paraguay and in Montevideo, Uruguay.
