Apex, North Carolina, United States’ Nancy Taylor and Gabrielle Raymond have died. The former was 69 while the latter was 37.
Taylor and Raymond were residents of the South Walk Townhomes in Apex. One of their neighbors was Harry Bates Hardman, 37, a former U.S. Army captain who rented a house there.
Originally from Georgia, USA, Taylor was the head of the homeowners association at the South Walk Townhomes.
Raymond was a chemical engineer who worked at RTI. She was friends with Taylor.
Who is Harry Hardman?
From 2005 to 2019, Hardman served in the U.S. Army. In 2009, he graduated from the military academy.
From August 2023 to December 2023, Hardman worked as a server at a restaurant at the Peak on Salem in Apex. He used to work as a real estate agent, as well.
At around 3:00 p.m. on January 15, 2024, Hardman allegedly used a handgun to fatally shoot Taylor, Raymond and a dog then hid inside his residence. The dog died at the scene while both women were taken to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
When Apex Police Department officers arrived, Hardman went out with an AR-15 rifle. The officers told Hardman to drop the weapon and he complied.
Hardman was arrested without incident and booked into the Wake County Jail in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was charged with animal cruelty and two counts of murder.
On January 16, 2024, Hardman appeared in court. Represented by an appointed capital defender, he will be back in court on February 5, 2024.
