Donald “Doc” Bennett, 83, of Campbellsville, Kentucky, United States and Edward Binert, 55, of Oak Lawn, Cook County, Illinois, USA have been arrested.

Almost 20 years ago, Bennett and Binert met while serving time in prison in Michigan, USA. They allegedly stole more than $42,000 when they robbed two banks in Oak Lawn on June 27, 2023 and on August 25, 2023.

Bennett and Binert allegedly robbed more banks in Willowbrook, DuPage County, Illinois on November 29, 2023 in Tinley Park, Cook County on December 1, 2023 and in Glen Ellyn, DuPage on January 26, 2024. On November 1, 2023, they allegedly robbed a Chase Bank in Lombard, DuPage County.

On February 14, 2024, Bennett and Binert allegedly robbed another Chase Bank in Hickory Hills, Cook County, escaped with $6,964 and left in a silver sedan. Investigators were able to identify the suspects through surveillance footage from the bank and a nearby grocery store, car rental and phone records and license plate readers.

Later that day, Federal Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Bennett and Binert in the Oak Lawn residence of the latter, who confessed to the robbery. On February 22, 2024, Bennett will appear in federal court for a detention hearing.
