Febrio de Zoysa of Sri Lanka attended Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. He lived in a townhouse in Barrhaven, Ottawa rented by Sri Lankan couple Dhanushka Wickramasinghe, 38, and Darshani Banbaranayake Gama Walwwe Darshani Dilanthika Ekanyake, 35.

Also living in the house was Wickramasinge and Ekanyake’s lodger Amarakoonmubiayansela Ge Gamini Amarakoon, 40. De Zoysa lived there for free.

In the last week of February 2024, de Zoysa celebrated his 19th birthday with the help of Wickramasinge and Ekanyake in Barrhaven. On March 6, 2024, the teenager alleged killed Amarakoon, Ekanyake and Ekanyake’s children Inuka Wickramasinghe, 7, Ashwini Wickramasinghe, 4, Rinyana Wickramasinghe, 2, and Kelly Wickramasinghe, who was born in Ottawa in January 2024.

When Dhanushka arrived home, he was also attacked by de Zoysa, who was later arrested at the scene. Dhanushka was treated in the hospital.

All of de Zoysa’s social media accounts were deleted after his arrest. On March 7, 2024, he made his initial appearance in court.

On March 14, 2024, de Zoysa will appear in court. He was charged with attempted murder and six counts of first-degree murder and ordered not to contact Dhanushka and four other people.
