Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, 37, of New Orleans, Louisiana, United States was supposed to play Praetorian Jack in “Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga“. It is the fifth installment in the “Mad Max” film series.

Abdul-Mateen was cast in October 2020. However, he had to give up the role due to a scheduling conflict.
In October 2022, Abdul-Mateen joined the cast of “Wonder Man“, a television miniseries for Disney+. He will play the title role opposite Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Demetrious Grosse as Eric Williams / Grim Reaper and Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan.
Born in New Orleans, Abdul-Mateen attended McClymonds High School in Oakland, California, USA and the University of California, Berkeley in Berkeley, California. He turned 37 on July 15, 2023.
“Furiosa” cast
In November 2020, Tom Burke, 42, of Kent, England, United Kingdom joined the “Furiosa” cast as Praetorian Jack, replacing Abdul-Mateen. The English actor played Denis Rebrov in “The Lazarus Project”, which aired on Sky Max from June 16, 2022 to November 15, 2023.
Along with Burke, the main cast of “Furiosa” includes Lachy Hulme as Immortan Joe / Rizzdale Pell, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, Josh Helman as Scrotus, John Howard as The People Eater and Angus Sampson as The Organic Mechanic. Both Quaden Bayles and Daniel Webber play a war boy.
Anya Taylor-Joy plays Imperator Furiosa while Alyla Browne plays the character’s younger version. The character’s mother Mary Jo Bassa is played by Charlee Fraser.
Chris Hemsworth plays Dementus. The character is the warlord leader of the Bike Horde that abducted Furiosa.
George Miller directed the post-apocalyptic action adventure film. He co-wrote it with Nico Lathouris.
On May 15, 2024, the film made its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France. It will hit theaters in Australia on May 23, 2024 and in the U.S. on May 24, 2024.
