Liam James Payne of Wolverhampton, West Midlands, England, United Kingdom has died. He was 31.

Born in Wolverhampton to Geoff Payne and Karen Payne, Liam was an alumnus of the City of Wolverhampton College in Wolverhampton where he studied music technology. Geoff was a fitter and Karen was an infant nurse.

On December 6, 2019, Capitol Records and Hampton Records released Liam’s first and only studio album titled “LP1“. The standard edition of the album has 17 songs, which he recorded from 2016 to 2019.

Liam was a member of One Director. When he died, he was in a relationship with Kate Cassidy, 25, of New Jersey, United States.

In 2021, Cassidy moved to London, England after graduating from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina, USA. In October 2022, she and Liam started dating after attending a Halloween party together dressed as Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson.

On September 30, 2024, Liam and Cassidy arrived in Argentina. On October 14, 2024, she left the country while he stayed behind and checked into the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

On October 16, 2024, Liam was found dead after falling from the balcony of his room on the third floor of the hotel. In a statement to The Associated Press, Buenos Aires Security Ministry communications director Pablo Policicchio said the English singer “had jumped from the balcony of his room”.

According to Policicchio, the hotel manager called 911 just after 5:00 p.m. that day and said Liam was aggressive and overwhelmed with drugs and alcohol. The manager added that the former One Direction member was destroying the entire room.

Three hours after the fall, Liam’s body was removed from the hotel. The circumstances of his death are being investigated.

Results of the autopsy have yet to be released. Cassidy has yet to release a statement about Liam’s death.
