Shannon Lamar Wilkerson, 44, of Andalusia, Alabama, United States is accused of killing Amanda Gonzales of Madisonville, Madison County, Texas, USA. They were U.S. Army soldiers at Fliegerhorst Kaserne, a U.S. Army base in Hanau, Germany from 1945 to 2007.

Wilkerson attended a memorial for Gonzales at Fliegerhorst Kaserne. No suspect was named and the case went cold.

Gonzales is Glorida Bates and Santos Gonzales‘s daughter and Michael Bates‘ stepdaughter. In 2021, Santos died without knowing who killed his daughter.

From 2001 to 2011, Wilkerson was married to his fellow soldier A. Martinez. She gave birth to their daughter in 2002 and to their son in 2009.

Wilkerson and Martinez were at Fliegerhorst Kaserne when he allegedly impregnated Gonzales. Martinez was also pregnant at the time.

On November 3, 2001, Wilkerson allegedly killed Gonzales in her barracks room at Fliegerhorst Kaserne. In 2007, he was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserve and in 2012, he was interviewed by the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Division about her death.

In 2018, Wilkerson got a job as an equipment operator on the Eglin Air Force Base, a U.S. Air Force base in Florida, USA. On February 23, 2023, he was arrested at the base and he pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder in the strangulation of Gonzales.

On May 7, 2024, a jury in Pensacola, Florida found Wilkerson guilty of second-degree murder in the death of Gonzales. On October 24, 2024, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison.
