Sahela Toka Win Sangrait of South Dakota, United States has died. She was 21.

Sangrait is Native American. She was 5’3″ tall and her registered weight was 140 pounds.

On August 10, 2024, Sangrait went missing. She was last known to be staying with a friend in Eagle Butte, South Dakota.

That day, Sangrait left Eagle Butte and told her friend she was going to Box Elder to get some of her things. She also planned to travel to California, USA.

On March 4, 2025, a hiker found Sangrait’s badly decomposed body in a wooded area near Hilly City, South Dakota. She was murdered allegedly by Quinterius Charles Chappelle, 24, on Ellsworth Air Force Base, which is around 10 miles northeast of Rapid City, South Dakota.

On April 30, 2019, Chappelle entered the U.S. Army. As an aircraft inspection journeyman, he served with the 28th Maintenance Squadron on Ellsworth Air Force Base.

In August 2024, Chappelle allegedly murdered Sangrait on the base. On March 15, 2025, the Pennington County Sheriff’s Office announced his arrest.

Chappelle was still an active-duty airman when he was arrested. He was booked into the Pennington County Jail in Rapid City and charged with second-degree murder.

On March 17, 2025, Chappelle appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daneta L. Wollmann. He pleaded not guilty to a federal criminal complaint.

A trial date has yet to be set. Chappelle was remanded to the U.S. Marshals Service custody pending trial.
