Adam Escarcega
Adam Roberto Escarcega, 34, of Santa Barbara, Santa Barbara County, California, United States is a paraeducator at Adams Elementary School in Santa Barbara. He was recently arrested.
In 2009, Escarcega graduated from San Marcos Senior High School in Santa Barbara. In 2021, he graduated from Santa Barbara City College in the same city.
From July 2019 to June 2022, Escarcega was a toddler teacher at Head Start in Goleta, Santa Barbara County. In 2022, he was hired as a teacher by Storyteller Children’s Center, a preschool in Santa Barbara while he worked as an assistant stage manager at Santa Barbara City College.
CC Unit
Escarcega is accused of arranging to meet with a minor for the purpose of lewd acts. Unbeknownst to him, he was actually communicating with members of an online vigilante group called Creep Catching (CC) Unit.
Through online conversations, Escarcega agreed to go to the 6800 block of Hollister Ave in Goleta on March 17, 2025 to meet someone he thought was a boy aged 15 for sexual purposes. When he arrived at the location, he was met by members of the group, who recorded a video confession from him.
At around 3:35 p.m., Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived and detained Escarcega on the scene without incident. The CC Unit turned over the conversations and the video to the authorities.
Bail for Escarcega was set at $75,000. He was booked into the Santa Barbara County Jail in Santa Barbara and charged with soliciting a minor for lewd acts.
After Escarcega’s arrest, the Santa Barbara Unified School District stated that it is fully cooperating with law enforcement. The district placed him on leave until investigations are completed.
