Immigration and Customs Enforcement
Bilal Karayigit, 26, of Turkey was recently arrested by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Formed on March 1, 2003, the federal law enforcement agency is under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, which is based in Washington, D.C., USA.
ICE has two components namely Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). Patricia H. Hyde is the acting director of the ERO field office in Boston, Massachusetts.
According to Hyde, Karayigit represents a significant threat to the members of the Massachusetts neighborhoods that ICE will not tolerate. She added that the agency will continue to prioritize public safety by arresting and removing illegal alien threats to New England, a U.S. region consisting of six states namely Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont.
Washington, D.C. is around 440 miles away from Boston. The latter is around 214 miles away from New York City, New York, USA.
