David Garner

David Wayne Garner, 40, of East Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio, United States has been arrested. He is accused of killing a fellow East Cleveland resident.

Incorporated as a city in 1911, East Cleveland became a city in 1911. It is around 9.2 miles away from Cleveland, the county seat of Cuyahoga County.

Garner man has an extensive criminal history with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Department in Cleveland dating back to 2002. He was last known to be staying in the 15000 block of Welton Drive in East Cleveland.

The East Cleveland is 6’0″ tall. His registered weight is 170 pounds.

Authorities have yet to release details about the connection between Garner and Rashawn Brinkley. The former allegedly fatally shot the latter.

Rashawn Brinkley

Rashawn Brinkley lived in Cleveland before moving to East Cleveland. He was not affiliated to any political party.

On May 20, 2014, Brinkley registered to vote in Cuyahoga County. On April 24, 2024, he turned 40.

On January 20, 2025, Garner allegedly pulled his 2019 black Dodge Ram pickup truck into the front yard of a residence on Shawn Avenue in East Cleveland and shot Brinkley in the head twice. The latter, who was sitting in a vehicle parked in the front yard, died from his injuries.

After the shooting, Garner took off in his truck. While on the run, he evaded police on multiple occasions.

A $5,000 reward was offered for information that would lead to Garner’s arrest. On February 19, 2025, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF) of the U.S. Marshals Service took over the case.

On March 24, 2025, the NOVFTF arrested Garner in the 2200 block of Brockway Road in Cleveland Heights, Cuyahoga County. He was charged with aggravated murder.

On November 2, 2022, a Medford man also named Rashawn Brinkley, then 27, was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing two young boys at the Gordon Heights Children’s Park in Gordon Heights, Brookhaven.
