Miss Universe Asia 2024 Chelsea Manalo is from Bulacan, Philippines. The province is also home to frozen food manufacturer CESARap de Malolos, beauty kings and actors Edmund Santiago, Mariano Sisperez and Peter Paul “Pipo” Mendoza and beauty queen and actress Pau Lacanlale.

Sisperez and Lacanlale play the children of Santiago in the short films “Plato” (Plato) and “Baso” (Glass) while Mendoza plays Lacanlale’s boyfriend. Featuring CESARap de Malolos, the films were released on June 14, 2025 in time for Father’s Day.

“Plato” is a confrontation between a father who is grieving for the loss of his daughter and his two living children. “Baso” is a conversation between a young man, his girlfriend, her father and her older brother.

Both films were produced, written, directed and edited by CV Altatis, a protege of Brillante Mendoza. The cinematographer was Miller Romitman and the production designer was Philip Corpus.

The two films were shot in Malolos, Bulacan in July 2024. It is a collaboration between Altatis’s CV Entertainment and Santiago’s Teatro Republika.

Santiago is Ginoong Bulacan Turismo 1995. On July 13, 2024, he hosted the coronation ceremony of Hari at Reyna ng Hagonoy 2024 at the municipal covered court of Hagonoy, Bulacan.

Altatis served as one of the judges. He was joined by Miss Continentes Unidos 2022 Joanna Camelle Mercado, Miss Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) 2024 first runner-up Arby Lyka M. Regala, actor, model and entrepreneur LM Torres and talent coordinator and entrepreneur Roxydiexsanne Angeles.

A total of 11 barangays were represented, namely Abulalas, Iba, Mercado, Palapat, San Agustin, San Jose, San Juan, San Nicolas, San Pablo, Santa Elena and Sta. Monica. Pipo and Lacanlale represented Abulalas.

Representing Palapat, Sisperez won the Hari ng Hagonoy 2024 title. His female counterpart Reyna ng Hagonoy 2024 Angeline Fajardo represented San Agustin.
