Shianne Smith of Micoud, Saint Lucia will represent the country in the 74th edition of Miss Universe. It is an international beauty pageant currently owned by JKN Global Group and Legacy Holding Group.

Micoud was named after Baron de Micoud, the French governor of St. Lucia in the 18th century. The village is home to Sir John Compton, the prime minister of the country in 1979, from 1982 to 1996 and from 2006 to 2007.

A mental health advocate, Smith is a cofounder of Mindfield, a platform committed to making mental health resources accessible to underserved communities. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience.

Raised between St. Lucia and New York, United States, Smith served as a Saint Lucian delegate to the United Nations at the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum. For her, representing St. Lucia in a beauty pageant is a calling to uplift its culture, amplify the voices of its youth and boldly remind the world of the brilliance born on the island.

While studying, Smith also produces health awareness campaigns for St. Lucian television. She also volunteers in Indian orphanages and teaches in prisons.

Smith is the 16th beauty queen to represent St. Lucia in Miss Universe.
